homing signaL

Drawn to the complexity and layered nature of the word, I am curious about the different types of homes we build - homes in physical spaces, in others, with others, in ourselves, around the pursuit of home. How we construct and deconstruct the idealized expectations of the space as well as uniquely redefine it through each season of life.

Some people in these photographs was unknown to me before our conversations - strangers. We became connected through social media or Craigslist in reponse to my posts to request people to talk to me about home and their definition of home. Some people are those who I am closest to and embody my definition of home. We met in the place they currently reside or a space that feels like home to them. We had a conversation and talked about what home means. Often, we ended up walking and continuing to talk while I made photographs or took small videos.
